Van der Hem and Heat

Piet van der Hem, Vrouw op sofa, colored pencil and charcoal on paper. 1912

Piet van der Hem, De Kleedkamer, colored charcoal on paper. 1908-1910
Piet van der Hem, Dansfeest in Spaanse Herberg (Ole, Ole, Ole, Ole), watercolor, charcoal, and ink on paper. 1914
Piet van der Hem, Zondagmiddagwandeling, watercolor and charcoal on paper. 1914

Recently at Sotheby's Amsterdam, these van der Hems sold during one of their auctions. Van der Hem's work is similar to that of Alfons Mucha another artist of the time, in that he drew a lot women of the period, and he too did advertisements.

While it has been quite hot this summer (as I have been complaining about before), swimming and working have been the best ways to escape the heat. Hope ya ain't sweating balls.
